What data sources are used to calculate the carbon footprint of infills and frames?

We worked with an external consultant to identify suitable carbon footprint data for each product. Sources include Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) studies and emission factor databases such as ICE V4.

We assessed the data using a certainty matrix, considering factors such as its age, geographical relevance, calculation unit and whether it came from the actual supplier. Only data classified as green or orange in our assessment was included.

Frames

The calculations for straight eco+ frames are based on a Product Carbon Footprint study prepared by ClimatePartner in 2024.

The calculator uses the results for a 992 × 2480 mm frame, including one connector and one 4 pin, as its reference. It includes the raw material and production stages up to the factory gate. Outbound transport, end of life treatment and the study’s category of general emissions are excluded from the calculator.

These underlying calculation data are distinct from the former ClimatePartner certification, whose certification period has ended.
