What did the ClimatePartner certification mean?
The former ClimatePartner certification covered five steps: calculating emissions, setting reduction targets, implementing reduction measures, financing climate projects and communicating transparently. The certification period has ended. This information remains available as a historical reference.
Step 1. Calculating emissions
The carbon footprint of a straight eco+ frame, together with one connector and one 4 pin, was calculated in line with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard in 2024.
The calculation covered raw materials, packaging, inbound transport, production, delivery to the first customer and end of life treatment. The use phase, including transport between customers and repeated uses, was excluded.
Step 2. Setting reduction targets
Using 2019 as our baseline year, we established emission reduction targets and continued calculating our company carbon footprint annually to monitor progress.
Our SBTi near term target was to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 46.2% by 2026 compared with 2019. We achieved this target in 2024. Achieving this emission reduction target does not mean that bematrix or its products became carbon neutral.
Step 3. Implement reduction targets
We have increased the recycled aluminium content of our straight eco+ frames to 78.5% as part of our efforts to reduce their calculated carbon footprint.
We remain committed to working with our partners to further increase this percentage.
Step 4. Finance climate projects
As part of the certification, we voluntarily financed climate projects, including through the purchase of carbon credits. Information about the projects supported during the certification period is available through the ClimatePartner Climate ID.
These contributions were separate from reductions in our own emissions and did not count towards our emission reduction targets. They did not make the frames free from greenhouse gas emissions.
Step 5. Communicating transparently
We shared information about the calculated footprint, reduction measures and supported climate projects through our website and the ClimatePartner Climate ID linked to the QR code on the frames.
For frames covered during the certification period, this information remains a historical reference. The QR code does not indicate that the ClimatePartner certification is still current.
